Two Men with Over a Million Dollars in Fentanyl Arrested in New York

Two men who had been investigated for drug possession were arrested in New York with an estimated 32,000 pills of fentanyl. The arrest occurred near the JFK Airport in New York after a two-month long investigation.

The two perpetrators, Pierre-Lys Roodolph, 33, of San Diego and Uriel Barajas-Valencia, 50, were seen at a Hampton Inn on Monday during a police investigation, according to Fox News. Roodolph exited the elevator of the hotel at around 11:30 in the morning, meeting Barajas-Valencia in the lobby before heading for the parking lot and moving between the cars. When police approached them and confiscated the brown box Roodolph carried, they discovered four packages of the drug. The two men were apprehended, arraigned, and set at bail earlier this week.

Fentanyl is a powerful opioid that can be between fifty and one hundred more powerful than morphine, often manufactured and sold through illegal means, according to the National Institute of Drug Abuse. The DEA is currently conducting an analysis on the drugs. The bond of the two men is allowed currently being held at 50,000 and 100,000 dollars.
