Gunman Sought in Shootings of Five Homeless Men in New York and Washington D.C.

Police in New York City and Washington D.C. are working together to solve the targeted shootings of five men sleeping on the street, two of which were fatal.

The mayors of both cities released a joint statement on Sunday, citing the “similarity in the modus operandi of the perpetrator, common circumstances involved in each shooting, circumstances of the victims and recovered evidence” that led them to work in tandem with the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to solve the case.

The New York Times reports that the five shootings took place between March 3 and March 12, the first three taking place in the Northeast section of Washington and the other two in lower Manhattan.

Authorities have not released the names of any of the victims but say that they were all men sleeping on the street. The NYPD released surveillance images of the person of interest, and CNN reports that there is a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
