Former Beauty Pageant Star Sentenced to 4 Years in Jail for $1.7M Vintage Wine Heist

Priscila Guevara, 28, and her boyfriend Constantín Dumitru, 49, are reported to have stolen 45 bottles of wine from Atrio, a three star Michelin restaurant and hotel in Caceres, Spain.

Daily Mail reports that 45 bottles of wine were stolen from the cellars of the famous restaurant in October of 2021, and the theft was meticulously planned.

Guevara and Dumitru allegedly checked into the hotel on October 27, 2021 using fake Swiss identification, according to Vice. It is claimed the couple had dined at the restaurant three previous times that year in June, August, and September, and when they arrived in October, Dumitru never checked in with the hotel but met Guevara for dinner.

After their meal, both Guevara and Dumitru took a tour of the restaurant's wine cellar before returning to their hotel room. At around 2 a.m. called the front desk top order room service, allowing for the front desk receptionist to leave her post to prepare the order and giving Dumitru the opportunity to access the wine cellar with a key card that he stole earlier on.

Dumitru proceeded to steal 45 bottles of wine–two of which were 19th century wines from the French vineyard Chateau d'Yquem, which cost about $300,000 and $40,000–by wrapping them in hotel towels and stuffing them in three backpacks.

The couple reportedly checked out of the hotel at 5am on foot the next morning; the couple was allegedly on the run for months before finally being caught as they were crossing the Albanian-Croatian border.
