Ohio Woman Admits to Drowing 93-Year-Old Grandmother in Kitchen Sink

People reports Heidi Matheny told police she intentionally drowned her grandmother in the kitchen sink so she could “be at rest.” Matheny has pleaded guilty to murder. 

According to WKBN-TV, the day before the killing on Nov. 15, 2022, doctors recommended to Matheny that she should put her grandmother into the nursing home, but she couldn’t afford the cost. The following day, Heidi Matheny snuck up behind her grandmother, Alice Matheny, while she was doing the dishes and held her head in the kitchen sink, “until the bubbles stopped.” She held her grandmother underwater for 15 minutes and then left her dead body in the tub. Matheny told police "I just lost my s—. It's nothing that she did. She's a perfect freaking grandma." 

Matheny said she escaped through the window and turned herself in two hours later. According to People, she will be sentenced on March 15.
