Reality TV Star James Norman Sentenced to Life in Prison for Arrangement of Nephew’s Murder
‘Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s’ star James Norman received a sentence of life in prison on March 2, 2023 for his part in a murder-for-hire plot that led to the shooting and death of his nephew in 2016.
Last September, Norman, 43, was found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, murder-for-hire and conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud in the fatal shooting of his nephew, Andre Montgomery Jr.—who also appeared in the OWN reality tv show ‘Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s’—on March 14, 2016, People reports.
Essence Magazine claims that Norman allegedly took out a $450,000 life insurance policy on Montgomery in 2014 as the sole beneficiary and set his plan in motion from there.
Norman also had three co-defendants–Travell Anthony Hill, Terica Ellis, Waeil “Wally” Rebhi Yaghnam–who have all pleaded guilty in connection with the murder-for-hire conspiracy, and in October of 2022, Hill was sentenced to 32 years in prison after admitting he fatally shot Montgomery. Hill claimed that he was told of Montgomery’s location by a woman who knew both Montgomery and Norman.
The woman was later identified as Terica Ellis, who confessed that Norman paid her $10,000 to find Montgomery and pass on his location. She also claims that she knew Norman was going to take action, she just didn’t know Montgomery would be shot. Ellis was sentenced to three years in prison in January.
Norman took to social media on Feb. 23 in an attempt to claim his innocence.
