‘Duck Sauce’ killer Glenn Hirsch’s hoarder NYC apartment

‘Duck Sauce’ killer Glenn Hirsch’s hoarder NYC apartment

Zhiwen Yan was a married father of three and emigrated from China 20 years ago. On April 30, Yan was making a delivery on his scooter when Glenn Hirsch allegedly shot him in the chest over a duck sauce. According to the restaurant owner, Glenn frequently harassed his workers at the eatery with a gun and had disturbing encounters. Repeated calls to the police over the angry customer did not stop anything.

After his arrest in April, cops had found hoarder-like conditions in his apartment. The NYPD found eight guns in the closet of his estranged wife’s apartment. Before the court date, Glenn, who had been out on bail, committed suicide, leaving a suicide note saying his wife had nothing to do with the guns found.

Recently released photos of the apartment show that Hirsch’s apartment was filled to the ceiling with cardboard boxes, black trash bags, old newspapers, CDs, and plastic containers of old documents.

A source close to the NYPD recently told New York Daily News that his fridge was full of duck sauce and other condiments.

According to the latest NYPD crime statistics reports, hate crimes against Asian people increased 335% this year.

CNN has reported that hate crimes against Asian people often go underreported due to the factors that deter victims from calling the police, such as language barriers and immigration status.
