Mother Arrested For Baby Daughter's Drowning Death at Funeral Home
Police in Georgia have arrested and charged 31-year-old Shaquila Feaster after the drowning death of her six month old daughter on charges of second-degree murder.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Feaster allegedly left her infant daughter, Ja’Lonnie Small, unattended in a bathtub filled with water on July 30. The arrest warrant alleges that Feaster went downstairs for more than five minutes.
Ja’Lonnie was transported to a local hospital where she died five days later.
Feaster was arrested at a funeral home in Decatur, Georgia. As of Tuesday, it is unclear whether she was attending a service for Ja’Lonnie at the time of her arrest. Her funeral was held Friday morning at the Peace Baptist Church.
Feaster was booked into the Decatur County Jail on Thursday evening and remains there without bond. Under Georgia law, a person can be charged with murder in the second-degree if the child died due to negligence.
