New York Duck Sauce Killer Commits Suicide Ahead of Trial

The alleged “Duck Sauce Killer” in New York City, previously covered here on MurderMurder News, reportedly committed suicide last Friday morning while out on bail. With a self-inflicted gunshot wound, his death comes hours before he was meant to appear in court on second-degree murder charges.

Glenn Hirsch (51) was accused of the stalking, harassment, and eventual murder of Zhiwen Yan, a 45-year-old delivery driver for the Great Wall restaurant. According to Law & Crime, the feud between the men began last November when not satisfied with the amount of duck sauce he received with his order, Hirsch stormed to the restaurant and caused a scene with Yan and other workers. Since that incident, Hirsch’s outbursts rose to threats and even bringing a gun to the restaurant.

Despite footage showing Hirsch driving around the Great Wall restaurant numerous times and following Yan on April 30, the day of the murder, according to the Daily Star, Hirsch pleaded not guilty to all charges and asserted the police had arrested the wrong person. With his death, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz is disappointed they will be unable to try him rightfully in court.
