Police Have Arrested a Teen Boy Accused of Killing His 10-year-old Stepsister
Michigan mother Melonzine Turner learned that her daughter was missing when she came back from the hospital after having two surgeries last week, Mlive reported.
Na’Mylah was reported missing from her stepfather’s house at 813 S. 12th St. around 6:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30.
When Turner arrived from the hospital, officers found her daughter’s body in an abandoned, overgrown lot and called it a homicide.
14-year-old Jameion Peterson has been charged as an adult in the homicide of his 10-year-old stepsister.
A motive for the killing and Na'Mylah's cause of death have not been made public. Assistant Prosecutor Stevenson said that no weapons were used in Na’Mylah’s death, and no signs of sexual assault were found.
A preliminary exam has been scheduled for Peterson on September 21st.
Family members have launched a GoFundMe campaign to help offset Na'Mylah's funeral expenses.
