4-year-old boy nonfatally shot in Philadelphia barbershop
According to CBS Philadelphia, a 4-year-old boy was shot in the shoulder at a Rising Sun Avenue barbershop. As his father began driving him to the hospital, he got into a car crash, but “[t]he driver of the other vehicle involved then volunteered to take the two to the hospital.” The boy is in the Albert Einstein Medical Center and is expected to recover.
The incident occurred around 5:15PM yesterday, states NBC Philadelphia. After an argument with another man in the back of the barbershop, the gunman fired at least three times, but seemingly only hit the 4-year-old. No arrests have been made and no weapons recovered so far, but according to CBS Philadelphia, a witness inside the barbershop allegedly recognized and reported the identity of the shooter to police.
Soberingly, at the scene in the barbershop yesterday, “every eyewitness CBS3 spoke with said they lost someone to gun violence.” NBC Philadelphia reinforces this statement, reporting that “147 minors have been shot in Philadelphia this year.”
