N.C. Mom Arrested, Accused of Killing 2- and 3-Year-Old Daughters
Late on Saturday night, the Raleigh Police Department received calls about two dead toddlers who were 2 and 3 years old.
A 29-year-old North Carolina mom, Launice Shanique Battle, was arrested for having killed her two and three-year-olds.
The neighbors who spoke with ABC News did not mention anything that would suggest violence or trouble. They said that they often saw the girls playing outside.
Battle was arrested on Sunday morning and has been charged with felony murder.
The causes of death of the girls and the motive have not been released. Investigation into the murder of the girls is still ongoing.
Battle is scheduled to make her first court appearance on Monday.
In North Carolina, first-degree murder is punishable by life in prison or the death sentence. Second-degree murder has a minimum punishment of 125 months, or just over ten years, in prison—the degree of premeditation involved in the killing, which remains to be cleared in Battle's case.
