Father Charged in Connection With the Murder of His 1-Year-Old Daughter
Jayveyon Burley of Inglewood, California, was charged Tuesday with the murder of his 1-year-old daughter Leilani Dream Burley after her remains were found in the Los Angeles River.
Burley's mother reported Leilani missing Sunday evening when he returned to their shared home with only one of his two children. He reportedly picked Leilani and her 3-year-old brother Zayveyon up from their mother's home in Long Beach.
Leilani’s remains were found Monday in the Los Angeles River a short time later below the Ocean Boulevard Bridge in Long Beach. Her exact cause of death has not been released as of Wednesday afternoon, per People.
Lynisha Hall, the mother of Leilani and Zayveyon, reported that Burley was overprotective of the children and never hurt them prior to Leilani's death. Zayveyon was not harmed, according to Hull's interview with KTLA-TV.
Burley was immediately arrested Monday on charges of murder and child endangerment. He will appear in court Wednesday and is held on a $250,000 bond.
Lynisha Hull has set up a GoFundMe to cover funeral costs for her daughter.
