Pennsylvania Woman Charged After Murdering and Dismembering Elderly Parents
According to CBS News, Verity Beck, 49, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of third-degree murder in the January killings of her elderly parents. Her father, Reid Beck was 73 years old and her mother, Miriam Beck, was 72 years old.
Beck’s brother had not seen or heard from their parents in more than a week and called the police to their home on Jan. 17, 2023, around 10:30 p.m., according to Fox News.
Upon arrival, authorities found Verity Beck inside, along with one body “tightly wrapped in a white bed sheet,” and a second deceased person. According to CBS News, The District Attorney for Montgomery County, Kevin Steele stated that there were signs of significant trauma inside the Beck home. Police found a chainsaw near one of the bodies and both victims were in various stages of dismemberment, according to Fox News. It was determined by the county coroner's office that both victims were killed by a gunshot wound to the head.
Verity Beck was immediately taken into custody. According to CBS News, an investigation is underway and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 1, 2023. Beck is currently being held at Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
