Carole Baskin Claims "Dead" Husband Is Still Alive But Is Still Being Searched For

People claims that in a recently resurfaced 2021 interview, Carole Baskin said that her missing ex husband, Don Lewis–who vanished in 1997–is alive and well in Costa Rica.

While Baskin claims that her ex-husband is still alive, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office still has an open missing person case for Lewis even after he was declared dead in 2002, according to the New York Post.

According to People, the producers of Tiger King 2 show documents that are allegedly from the Department of Homeland Security that prove Lewis’ whereabouts in Costa Rica. Baskin believes that Homeland Security had been in contact with Lewis and that “all of this drama has been made about me having something to do with his disappearance, when Homeland Security has known where he is.”

However, according to the New York Post, a spokesperson from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s office claims that the office had not heard anything to the contrary from the Department of Homeland Security despite Baskin’s claim. “We have not received any communication from our federal partners that confirms the location of missing person Mr. Don Lewis. The investigation into Don Lewis’ disappearance remains a priority for the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, as do all missing person cases.”
