Ohio Father Arrested and Charged For the Hot Car Death of Toddler

Landon Parrott of Ohio was arrested and charged Friday with murder after he allegedly intentionally left his 1-year-old son in a hot car.

According to a Facebook post made by the New Philadelphia Police Department, they received a phone call Thursday from the Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital that a 1-year-old was brought into the emergency room by his father. The hospital reported the boy was unresponsive.

During their initial investigation, police noted that Parrott, 19, gave them inconsistent information. As officers continued their investigation and they found new information, Parrot allegedly confessed to intentionally leaving Kyler in the car. Parrott allegedly left Kyler in the car so he would not be a disturbance while in the house.

The little boy, Kyler Parrott, died after sitting in the car for five hours while strapped into his car seat. Temperatures in the area reached 87 degrees that day. Police estimate the temperature in the car could have reached 130.

Parrott was arrested and charged with one count of murder, one count of involuntary manslaughter, and two counts of endangering a child. He is currently being held in the Tuscarawas County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help cover funeral costs for baby Kyler.
