Father of Harmony Montgomery Charged With Her Murder
Nearly three years after five-year-old Harmony went missing, her father, thirty-two-year-old Adam Montgomery has been charged with her murder. Harmony was last seen in December 2019 and not reported missing until December 2021.
In August, police from the Manchester Police Department and other federal agencies such as the FBI conducted a search of an apartment Adam Montgomery lived in during the time of Harmony’s disappearance. At the conclusion of their investigation, the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office announced they believed Harmony was murdered in early December 2019.
In a press conference Monday afternoon, New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella revealed that Montgomery was arrested earlier in the day. He has been charged with: second-degree murder, falsifying physical evidence, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence.
Formella has accused Montgomery of beating Harmony to death on or around December 7, 2019. Montgomery then allegedly attempted to destroy and dispose of Harmony’s body between December 7, 2019 and March 4, 2020.
Harmony was last known to be living with her father and stepmother, Kayla Montgomery. In January, both were arrested and charged with various crimes not directly related to Harmony’s disappearance. Adam Montgomery was charged with second degree assault against Harmony, interference with custody, and two charges of endangering the welfare of a child according to previous reporting by Murder Murder News.
In an emotional statement by Manchester Police Chief Allen Aldenberg thanked many of the officers in his department. In remembering Harmony, she stated: “I know no other way to respect and honor this innocent and defenseless child than to extend an act of kindness to another child in her memory.”
Neither Formella or Chief Aldenberg have announced whether Harmony’s remains have been recovered.
Anyone with information regarding the investigation and murder of Harmony Montgomery is urged to call Manchester Police Department at 603-203-6060.
