Michigan Man Suspected of Killing Wife and Three Kids

This past Friday around 2:30 p.m. deputies were dispatched to a home in Austin Township, Michigan after receiving reports of a man with a gun, and the sound of multiple shots being fired.

Three children under 10 and a woman, confirmed to be the mother, were all found dead when police arrived. All four victims suffered from gunshot wounds.

The reported man, suspected to be the father and husband of the victims, also suffered from a gunshot wound to the head, supposedly self-inflicted. He’s alive but remains in critical condition at a hospital in Grand Rapids, 50 miles south of Austin Township.

The alleged killer, Charles Gillard, was confirmed to be the father by the mother, Dawn Gillard’s eldest daughter, Hailey Salisbury, according to 13 ON YOUR SIDE. Salisbury is the half-sister of the three child victims and the step-daughter of Charles.

A memorial for the victims was hosted on Memorial Day at the Morley Stanwood Community Schools where one of the children used to attend.
