Uncle Kills Two-Year-Old Niece During a Family Fight
This past Saturday in Wells, Maine, 19-year-old Andrew Huber-Young open-fired in his house after an argument between the gunman and his parents, reportedly kicking him out of the house.
After the fight, Andrew came back with a gun and started shooting at his family. He allegedly shot his father in the face and proceeded to shoot his brother, Ethan Huber-Young, who was staying with the gunman and his family at the time of the shooting.
Ethan's two-year-old daughter, Octavia Huber-Young, was in the house as well and was held by her father during the incident. According to Craig Higgins, Octavia’s other uncle, Ethan was shot once in the arm and once in the shoulder, leading to the endangerment of the toddler.
All three victims, including Octavia, were rushed to the hospital. Octavia was later pronounced dead on Saturday. Both her father and grandfather survived and were treated for their non-life-threatening injuries.
According to local authorities, Andrew Huber-Young has been detained in the York County jail and is currently held without bail. With this case still under investigation, he may also face additional charges in the future.
A GoFundMe has been made to help Octavia’s family in light of the tragedy.
