High School Track Star Fatally Shot After Prom Party

Rashard Guinyard, 17, was shot and killed in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 24, outside of an after-prom party in Fort Worth, Texas.

According to WFAA, police responded to a call reporting a shooting on 3800 block of Altamesa Boulevard. When responders arrived on the scene, they found Guinyard with at least one gun shot wound to the chest and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement obtained by People, “"Detectives learned that there was a large gathering [at the] location and unknown suspect(s) began firing weapons striking the victim as he and others attempted to flee the area on foot.”

There are currently no suspects, however, there is an ongoing investigation.

Guinyard was a star track athlete at Crowley High School and had plans to attend Abilene Christian University to continue his career in track and field.
