Alabama Officer and Inmate Missing, US Marshals Offer $10,000 Reward
Authorities in Alabama are searching for Corrections Officer Vicky White and inmate Casey White after the pair went missing Friday morning while en route to a mental health evaluation appointment which did not exist.
The pair, who officials say are not related, have not been seen since they left the jail Friday morning.
Vicky told other officers she was taking Casey to a mental health evaluation when she checked him out of the jail. She claimed she was going to receive medical treatment after she dropped Casey White off because she wasn’t feeling well.
Authorities found out later that day the appointment for an evaluation, nor a court hearing, was scheduled for Casey White. Concerned officers tried reaching Vicky on her cell phone, but her phone went straight to voice mail.
Casey White was arrested on two counts of capital murder for his part in a murder-for-hire, as well as a home invasion, carjacking, and police chase. In 2020, he planned on kidnapping an officer. A policy was enacted to make sure he had two uniformed officers with him when he was transported.
Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton believes Casey White had nothing to lose. He then continued on by saying her apparent medical issues were “bogus” and “leads us to believe she was involved” according to the New York Times.
Because Vicky White had a 9mm handgun, authorities are considering Casey White, who is 6’9”, armed and dangerous.
