Former University of Georgia Football Player Arrested for Murdering Gas Station Clerk Last Year
Ahkil Nasir Crumpton, who played wide receiver for the University of Georgia Bulldogs in 2017 and 2018, was arrested in connection with the murder of a gas station clerk last year.
The victim, 23-year-old Elijah Wood, was shot to death at the RaceTrac gas station near Watkinsville, GA. Surveillance video showed the suspect entering the store clad in all black and holding a handgun.
According to a statement released by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, investigators used ballistics to link the shell casings from the RaceTrac crime scene to another crime scene in Philadelphia, Crumpton’s hometown.
Though an arrest was made, Sheriff James Hale said in the statement that the investigation is still ongoing and is asking anyone with information to come forward.
