Former Glam Rockstar Gary Glitter Released Early From Prison After Serving Half of Sentence

Paul Gadd, also known famously as Gary Glitter, was released early from prison after serving half of a sixteen year sentence for sexually abusing three young girls in the 1970s, according to People.

Gadd was convicted with six different charges–one count of attempted rape, four counts of indecent assault and one count of sexual intercourse with a girl who was under the age of 12.

BBC claims that Gadd attacked two girls aged 12 and 13 at the height of his fame after he had invited them back to his dressing room. In 1975, he tried to rape his youngest victim, less than 10 years old, after he crept into her bed.

While these allegations weren’t revealed until 40 years later, Gadd has had a history with sexually abusing and assaulting young women. In the late 1990s, Gadd served two months in jail after admitting that he possessed 4,000 images of child pornography, and in 2006, he was sentenced to three years in a Vietnam prison for molesting two underage girls.

Gadd’s early release has caused the victims more harm, the lawyer of one of the victims stating that “today is an incredibly difficult day for her. The abuse, including repeated rapes which our client suffered from the age of 12, have left her with a life sentence.” The lawyer, Richard Scorer even went on to add that Gadd has never admitted his offense, apologized, or shown any remorse.
