Former Reality Star Josh Duggar Sentenced To Prison For Child Pornography

Disgraced reality star Josh Duggar was sentenced Wednesday to 12.5 years in prison for both receiving and possessing child pornography.

Duggar’s sentence follows his conviction on child pornography charges from December 2021. If given the maximum sentence, Duggar would have faced 20 years in federal prison, and $250,000 fine on each count.

After he is released from prison, Duggar will remain on parole for 20 years and cannot have any unsupervised contact with minors, which includes his own children with his wife Anna Duggar. Duggar is also required to partake in sex offender treatment and may not access or view pornography of any kind.

Anna Duggar and his father, Jim Bob Duggar, both have supported him throughout the entirety of the trial. According to lawyer Carrie Jernigan who was watching in the court room yesterday, when Josh Duggar was brought into the courtroom, Anna lifted her arm and made the symbol for love with her hand.

Duggar and his family rose to fame on their TLC show “19 Kids and Counting,” which highlighted their religious and conservative way of life with their 19 children. The show would eventually be cancelled due to allegations that Josh Duggar had molested multiple girls when he was a teenager.

A spinoff excluding Josh was quickly ordered titled “Counting On,” but was cancelled when Josh was arrested on child pornography charges in April 2021.
