Burger King Murder Victim Kristal Bayron-Nieves Remembered as a ‘Happy, Genuine Soul’

The 19-year-old Burger King cashier who was gunned down at work during a robbery on Jan. 9 was mourned by friends and family at her wake on Tuesday.

Kristal Bayron-Nieves had asked her manager if she could work the dayshift instead of the overnight shift in fear of her safety. “That was her last week working the night shift,” her friend Nairelys Figueroa told ABC7.

The suspected killer evaded authorities for a few days before being arrested. 30-year-old Winston Glynn was charged with murder, robbery, and two weapons charges after he entered the restaurant and demanded money. Bayron-Nieves complied and gave Glynn what was left in the cash register—only $100. After giving him the money, Glynn fatally shot her in the torso. The New York Post reports that Glynn had previously worked at the same Burger King location, but investigators do not believe she was specifically targeted.
