29-Year-Old Pregnant Mother Shot and Killed While Sitting in her Car, Suspects Remain at Large.

Derricka Patrick, 29, was murdered in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago on Wednesday evening. Patrick, 3 months pregnant with her second child and the mother of a 9-year-old girl, was shot multiple times. Her unborn child did not survive, according to Newsweek.

Detectives have obtained surveillance video of the crime but have not released it to the public. The video allegedly shows a vehicle pulling up alongside Patrick’s vehicle. Two men armed with handguns exited the vehicle and began shooting at the victim.

According to the victim’s family, Patrick was on her way to her cousin’s birthday party. Dorothy Patrick, Derricka’s sister, told ABC7 Chicago that her sister was looking forward to giving birth to her second child. The family will be taking care of Patrick’s surviving daughter.
