A woman saves two girls from being kidnapped at a church in FishHawk

On Sunday night, two girls, under the age of 12, were leaving Cherry’s Bar and Grill in FishHawk’s park square when a man approached them. David Matthew Daniels, 37, approached the two underage girls and said he would “supervise” their walk home.

According to the Daily Mail, Daniels began to hit one of the girls in the head and placed the other in a headlock while he continued to follow them. The girls got on their bikes and rode them to a nearby church to ask for help. The children stayed together and walked inside the church, and Daniels followed closely behind, claiming the girls were his daughters.

One of the girls was able to mouth to a woman in the church, “Please help me, this is not my dad,” the woman told FOX13.

The woman alerted other members of the church, and they kept Daniels occupied while others at the church called the authorities, according to WFLA.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office authorities arrested David Matthew Daniels on two counts of false imprisonment of a child and child abuse. Daniels is being held at the Hillsborough County Jail on a $104,000 bail.

The woman who saved the children preferred not to be identified because she did not want to be seen as a hero. She just did what she hoped others would do for her children.
