Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Brutally Murdering His Elderly Mother
This past Wednesday Okaloosa County Circuit Court Judge Terrance R. Ketchel sentenced Joshua Nunn to life in prison for beating his elderly mother to death with a hammer and choking her with an alarm clock cord. He reportedly killed her so he could buy drugs with her debit card.
Nunn pleaded guilty to second-degree murder as well as one count of vehicle theft and petit theft. He previously pleaded not guilty earlier this year.
The 42-year-old Florida man had murdered his 72-year-old mother on January 9th. He immediately stole her car, leaving the crime scene.
Soon after, Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call at Nunn’s mother’s home. When they arrived, they found the elderly victim dead on her bed and noticed her car was missing from her property.
The police connected the dots and were able to locate the stolen car three hours later and arrest Nunn after performing a traffic stop.
Nunn has a history of charges and arrests for robbery in 2000 and 2009, as well as attempted robbery in 2003. His last arrest happened in 2009, and he served 12 and a half years in prison before being released in November 2021.
