23-Month-Old Beaten and Killed by Babysitter

A babysitter to a 23-month-old boy, Kyrie Starks, is being charged with felony murder after beating the child to brain death in Roseville, Michigan. The babysitter, 21-year-old Kimora Launmei Hodges, was initially charged with first-degree child abuse for her actions against Kyrie, but after being pronounced at the hospital on Wednesday it was suitably increased.

Hodges, who had been Kyrie’s babysitter for the past two months, had called his mother, Taylor Starks (18) on June 13, stating that Kyrie was acting strangely. According to Crime Online, she explained that she believed he had an allergic reaction to eating soap, and Starks then ran to her home to see her son. Starks found her son having multiple seizures inside the home, and she then called 911 for medical attention.

According to PEOPLE Magazine, Kyrie was found at the hospital to be suffering from blunt force trauma to his head, with blood coming out of his ears, and he was in desperate need of brain surgery. To the police, Hodges admitted to abusing Kyrie, throwing him into a wall and shaking him badly, and has been cooperating thus far with them.

Taylor, who has said she had no other family but her son, has created a GoFundMe to raise money for Kyrie’s funeral expenses and is determined to seek justice for her son.
