Wife Convicted of Burning Husband to Death After Inconsistency in Her Story
Pennsylvania woman, Evelyn Zigerelli-Henderson, has been arrested for allegedly killing her husband, Cameron Henderson, of 30 years.
Zigerelli-Henderson originally dialed 911 early Thursday morning to report her husband dead on their back porch. She told the dispatcher on the scene that Henderson committed suicide by burning himself alive. Upon investigation, police noticed fly larvae in Henderson’s mouth and nostrils, indicating the victim had been dead for a while.
Zigerelli-Henderson quickly changed her story and admitted to delaying calling 911 after finding Henderson on fire on their patio Wednesday afternoon. She claimed her husband accidentally caught on fire after smoking a cigar and found him while he was still alive. Zigerelli-Henderson was unable to explain why there was a delay between the incident and the dialing of 911.
According to WMPT, the couple were in severe debt and owed at least $40,000 on a second mortgage. Zigerelli-Henderson reportedly used up all their savings on vacation homes and activities like day spas. They also learned Zigerelli-Henderson had a $10,000 life insurance policy in her husband's name.
With all this information, authorities were able to warrant an arrest for the 66-year-old woman. She has been charged with criminal homicide, aggravated arson, and arson.
