Utah Boys, Both 3, Killed By Speeding Car
Two 3-year-old boys were killed instantly Monday evening when a speeding car slammed into them as they were playing at Cedar Valley Stables in Eagle Mountain, Utah.
The boys, Odin Ratliff and Hunter Jackson, were playing with toy trucks in a corral. The stables were like a second home to them, according to a GoFundMe campaign which has been set up for their families.
The driver, 25-year-old Kent Barlow, was allegedly under the influence of methamphetamines and was traveling faster than 100 miles per hour when he struck the boys. The boys were run over and ended up 75 feet away from where they were playing.
The Utah County Sheriff’s Office learned of the crash at about 7:20 p.m. Monday evening. Witnesses told responding officers that they witnessed Barlow weaving through traffic before the incident. The car he was driving was completely destroyed.
Passengers in the car allegedly told deputies Barlow’s vehicles had been “drifting” - a driving style which keeps the car in a condition of oversteer.
Barlow is being held without bail on multiple charges such as two counts of second-degree automobile homicide, driving under the influence with criminal negligence, two counts of driving while under the influence with personal injury, and one count each of third-degree possession of a controlled substance, reckless driving, running a stop sign, and speeding.
