Minnesota Couple Charged With Murder

Logan Slack, 25, and Fotini West, 25, were charges Tuesday morning with two counts of second-degree murder in connection with the murder of 43-year-old Michael Chang Beom Lee on September 24 in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota.

Deputies were called to the scene at about 2 a.m. Saturday on the 2100 block of 78th Court East after the caller hung up with 911 operators. Reportedly, a man on the phone pleaded with operators, saying “help me” and “they are trying to get into my house,” according to the criminal complaint. Responding officers found broken glass in the back of the home. Bloody footprints were then found, which led police to Lee’s body located in a bathroom.

The criminal complaint alleges that West went to Lee’s home to give him an “erotic massage” for money. Slack allegedly told police that Lee assaulted West and did not pay her. Court documents allege that Slack shot Lee in the back with a revolver to stop him from calling 911. Slack then proceeded to take Lee’s cell phone to “ensure electronic payment for the massage,” according to KARE 11.

Two witnesses reported seeing an SUV leaving the scene. An officer in the nearby area found an SUV matching the the witnesses’ descriptions and stopped the drivers. West’s arms, hands, and chest were covered in blood. As police searched the SUV, they found Lee’s cell phone and revolver under a seat.

When the pair were taken to the Dakota County Jail, a lump was found in Slack’s pocket. After further questioning, police discovered that the lump was the soles of the shoes he wore in Lee’s home.

Slack and West made their first appearances in court Tuesday morning in front of Judge Thomas Pugh. Slack’s bail was set at $1 million without conditions and $700,000 with conditions. West’s bail was also set at $1 million without conditions, and $300,000 with conditions.

A third person was arrested Saturday but was released by the Inver Grove Heights Police Department and will not be charged.

A GoFundMe campaign has been started to help Lee’s family cover funeral expenses. Lee was a husband and a father of a 2-year-old boy.
