Tennessee National Guardsman Arrested After Seeking Assassin Job on Parody Website

Josiah Ernesto Garcia, 21, has been arrested and charged with use of interstate facilities in the commission of murder-for-hire.

Garcia came across the website RentAHitman.com, which advertises fake hitman services. Garcia had met with an undercover FBI agent for what he believed was a deal to kill somebody for money, according to People.

The reason Garcia signed up to be a hitman, according to abc news, is because he wanted to support his child and his family couldn’t afford rent.

Garcia allegedly told the site administrator that he wanted to get started as soon as possible, which prompted an undercover FBI agent to get involved. Garcia was offered a $5,000 payment, with a $2,500 down payment for the fake job he applied for.

Allegedly, Garcia also told the agent that he was interested in the mercenary position because “being in the military, doing that sort of work already. I was looking into civilian law enforcement, but that's not for me. I wanted to do something more exciting.”

An AR-15 rifle was found at his home, and if he’s convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison.
