Tenn. High School Class President Killed While Returning Home From Basketball Game

According to the NY Times, Christine Michael, 17, was fatally shot on Feb. 10 while driving home from a basketball game with friends. People reports the group of teens had just left a basketball game that evening in Ripley and were traveling toward Brownsville, Tenn. when their vehicle was ambushed. They were struck by multiple rounds of gunfire coming from another vehicle.

Haywood County officials have arrested and charged Kevion Davis, 18, and Bishop Owens, 16, with first-degree murder in connection with the incident, according to People. Both men are being held without bond, and authorities are seeking three additional charges against each individual. It is unclear if either suspect has hired an attorney or if they have entered a plea charge.

Christine Michael was a junior and the class president of Haywood High School. Her principal remembers her as a straight-A student who "embodied everything you want in a student. But more importantly, you could see her soul — it was perfect.” Haywood High School students returned to school on Monday and remembered their beloved classmates.
