Teenager Charged in Fatal Alabama Drive-By, Toddler Among Victims

Nineteen year-old Tyrese Laquon Bell has been arrested by police in Tuscaloosa, Alabama stemming from a drive-by shooting which killed 25-year-old Marcus Winston Jr. and 2-year-old Ashton Jones.

Authorities say the shooting took place about 4:30 p.m. on Sunday in the 3000 block of 19th Street. They have also said they are looking for a white four-door vehicle with multiple people inside drove past the residence and opened fire with long guns.

Winston died on the scene, while Jones died later at the hospital. The victims are not believe to have been related. Police Captain Jack Kennedy calls this a “heinous crime” and continued on by saying “There’s nothing a two-year-old child could do to have deserved to have this brought upon him.”

Bell was arrested Monday evening and is being held on $3 million bond. He was charged with two counts of murder, although those charges could be elevated based on police investigations. Bell allegedly led police on a chase and wrecked his car before being arrested according to court documents.

Captain Kennedy has stated that along with Bell’s arrest, police are actively looking for Deantwone Dantae Long and Kaleria Alicia Gilbert. Gilbert has been located by police, but no charges have been released.
