Rapper PnB Rock, born Rakeem Allen, was shot and killed during an attempted robbery Monday afternoon at Roscoe’s Chicken ‘N Waffles restaurant in Los Angeles, California.

Allen, 30, was reportedly sharing lunch with his girlfriend, Stephanie Sibounheuang, Monday afternoon when a man approached the pair demanding Allen’s jewelry. After a verbal exchange, the suspect shot Allen before running to a getaway car.

Police responded to reports that an armed robbery had taken place at the iconic chicken restaurant on West Manchester Avenue at just about 1:15 p.m. Monday afternoon. When deputies arrived they found Allen suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, but conscious and talking. Allen was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:59 p.m.

The identity of the suspect has not been released. During a press conference Tuesday, police officers said the suspect drove off in an unknown vehicle. As of Tuesday night, a description of the suspect is not available and no arrests have been made. Security camera footage will be used to find the killer.

TMZ first broke the news of the shooting Monday afternoon, posting a graphic video of Allen laying in his own blood after he was shot. The video went viral on Twitter, causing thousands to decry the video and report it in an attempt to take it down.

The Philadelphia-based rapper first found success with his hit “Fleek” in 2015. A year and one day later, he released “Selfish” which became his highest charting song at No. 51 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2017, he was listed in XXL magazine’s prestigious freshman class (alongside XXXTentacion and Playboi Carti) according to the Los Angeles Times.

Tributes have poured in from across the world and many other hip-hop artists. Fellow rapper Offset posted a tweet praying for Allen’s family and two young daughters. Fellow artists such as Nicki Minaj and Trippie Redd have offered their condolences and shared memories of Allen.
