Rapper Lil Tjay Shot in New Jersey

Rapper Lil Tjay was one of two men wounded in a shooting in Edgewater, New Jersey early Wednesday in what the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office is calling an attempted armed robbery against the rapper and his two friends while they were shopping.

Officers were dispatched to the western end of City Place along the Hudson River and a nearby Exxon Gas station at 12:08 a.m. Wednesday.

Prosecutors quickly announced the arrest of the 24-year-old suspect, Mohamed Kontae, 27, of New York City on charges of attempted murder, armed robbery, and weapons offenses.

Kontae allegedly fired his weapon at Tjay and his two friends, Jeffrey Valdez, 24, and Antoine Boyd, 22. Boyd was also shot and injured in the attack. Tjay was shot multiple times and Boyd was also injured in the attack.

TMZ reported that Tjay had emergency surgery and has been upgraded to stable condition. Boyd was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries and later released.

Valdez and Boyd were also arrested after the shooting on weapons possessions charges and were held in the Bergen County Jail, per NorthJersey.com.
