Murderer of a Chinese Restaurant’s Deliveryman Found to have a Fixation on Condiments
Glenn Hirsch, a New York City resident who was arrested in May for killing Chinese-food deliveryman Zhiwen Yan, was found to harbor a love for the centerpiece of his feud with the Great Wall restaurant stronger than any imagined. This point of the feud: duck sauce.
Last Tuesday, the New York Police entered Hirsch’s (51) apartment after he was indicted in search of evidence. According to Yahoo! News, when they opened his fridge, they found exceedingly large amounts of a variety of condiments throughout, filling it entirely. It was described by those on the scene as a hoarder situation.
Hirsch’s enraged grudge against the restaurant began last November when he received an order from Yan (45) which he believed did not come with enough duck sauce. After that day, his anger escalated to committing acts of violence, according to the New York Post going on in December to accost workers and vandalize the owner of the Great Wall, Ken Yang’s, Lexus. Later in January, he entered the establishment with a gun and threatened employees until he was tackled and held down by Yan and Yang.
On April 30th, Hirsch was seen on surveillance footage circling the restaurant. Once Yan left to make a delivery, he followed with his car and shot him. Yan, a father of three, died at the scene. Hirsch, who was having a case built against him since the January incident, was found to have ten prior sealed arrests according to Yahoo! News, and as of now, he is not being charged with a hate crime in this case.
