Bengals’ Assistant Couch DaVonte’ Neal Arrested on Murder Charges
Idaho State University’s assistant football coach DaVonte’ Neal was arrested last month on suspicion of killing a man, Bryan T. Burns, in Arizona in November 2017. Neal, who was working as an assistant coach for a local high school in Arizona at the time of the crime, is currently being held without bail at Bannock County Jail.
On May 25th, Neal, who is in his late 20s, was arrested by Pocatello police outside his apartment according to CBS News. Since then, he has been charged with one count of first-degree murder, along with one count of a drive-by shooting and one count of discharging a firearm. Burns’s death took place near the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, and as of now, the police are refusing to disclose any more information on the case.
Neal, who had just joined the Bengals’ coaching staff this January, will be terminated from the position swiftly. According to The Guardian, Neal played football at the University of Arizona, and despite his apparent involvement in this case showed a clear background check when applying to work for Idaho State.
