Michigan Woman Wanted for Double Homicide, Found Dead

22-year-old Ruby Taverner was suspected of killing her boyfriend and brother in Independence Township, Michigan after a neighbor dialed 911 to report the sound of gunshots on Sunday morning around 3:20 a.m.

Upon investigation, her brother, Bishop Taverner, was found in the living room of Ruby’s apartment with a single gunshot wound to the head while her boyfriend, Ray Muscat, was found in the rear bedroom. Both were pronounced dead on scene due to gunshot wounds.

According to police, Taverner fled from the apartment on foot and had three weapons with her registered to her name, one of which was purchased within a week of the murders.

A 24-hour search was warranted for the arrest of Taverner until Monday morning when her body was found in the surrounding woods near Independence Square Apartments where she lived. Police say she died from a single gunshot wound with a Glock 43X handgun, the same gun she bought the week prior.

Any promising motives for the murders of Ray Muscat and Bishop Taverner are still unknown.
