Investigators Re-Open Investigation into 2008 Suicide Death of Casey White’s Ex-Girlfriend
Casey Cole White, the convicted murderer and Alabama inmate who escaped prison with the aid of parole officer Vicky White, may be facing an entirely new legal battle after the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office announced they were reopening the investigation into the mysterious death of Casey White’s ex-girlfriend.
In 2008, 31-year-old Christy Shelton was found in her home shot to death with a sawed-off shotgun. Authorities at the time ruled it a suicide, despite Shelton’s family insisting that her boyfriend, Casey Cole White, had something to do with the crime.
In a video sent to News 19 on Monday, Shelton’s daughter Somer Mitchell reiterated her belief that White was involved in her mother’s death. “Casey White was with my mom the night that she committed suicide,” she said. “Nothing was really done. I don’t think they took him in for questioning. So maybe this video will fall into the right hands of someone that can actually make a difference or look into it more maybe investigate.”
Seven years after Shelton’s death, Casey White broke into another ex-girlfriend’s home where he shot at two of her friends and killed her dog, landing him a 75-year prison stint.
