Man who attacked Comedian Dave Chappelle charged with Attempted Murder

Isaiah Lee, the man who attacked Comedian Dave Chappelle earlier this month, is returning to court in June on attempted murder charges announced on May 10. This comes after the misdemeanor case for attacking Chappelle as determined by the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office.

According to ABC7, Lee (24) allegedly stabbed his roommate during a fight last December. Because of the publicity around his altercation with Chapelle, his roommate came forward with his attempted stabbing, identifying him as the perpetrator. Lee has pleaded not guilty to these felony charges as of now.

The Chappelle incident took place at Hollywood Bowl after one of the comedian’s performances on May 3. According to CNN, Lee charged the stage and tackled Chappelle, with police finding a replica handgun with a knife embedded in it in his possession.

Because of this second showing of violence, Lee has been receiving mental health services in preparation for his trial.
