Man Convicted of First Degree Murder in Beheading Case
On Thursday a jury convicted Armando Barron, a New Hampshire man, of first-degree murder of Jonathan Amerault. Amerault was a co-worker of Barron’s wife, Britany, and reportedly sought out killing him after finding out she was texting Amerault.
Amerault was murdered in a park north of the Massachusetts state line into New Hampshire in September of 2020. According to Prosecutors, Barron was able to lure Amerault to a discrete park by using Britany’s cellphone. He allegedly beat and kicked Amerault before trying to force Britany to shoot the young man. She testified saying she did not follow through.
Later after forcing Amerault in the back of the couple’s car, Barron and Britany drove 200 miles to a remote campsite where Barron forced Britany to cut off Amerault’s head and leave Britany to dispose of his body. Barron reportedly shot Amerault a few times.
Evidence contradicts Britany’s innocence in this case after she pleaded guilty to three counts of falsifying physical evidence. Barron’s lawyer, Meredith Lugo, argues Britany shot Amerault with evidence regarding Britany’s conflicting statements of how Amerault was shot.
On the other hand, a prosecutor argued Britany told the truth and feared for her life. Due to suffering extreme abuse, Britany wants to be addressed by her first name and maiden name, Mitchell.
Barron was also convicted of brutally assaulting Britany. He faces a life sentence without parole.
