Serial Killer, Perez Reed, Charged with Seventh Murder in the First Degree
Recently, suspected serial killer, Perez Reed, has been charged with his seventh murder. He reportedly killed seven people from September-November in 2021 in Missouri and Kansas. Majority of his murders took place in St. Louis with two of the victims being killed in Wyandotte County, Kansas and one in Kansas City. Most of the victims were women and sex workers.
The final murder before being arrested on November 8, 2021 took place in Kansas City, Missouri. Just a week prior, Stephon D. Johnson was fatally shot in his apartment by Reed and stuffed inside a closet.
Reed was able to be identified soon after the murder by his crescent moon forehead tattoo which a witness recognized from the news before being taken into custody.
Upon being arrested in Independence, Missouri, law enforcement found a key on Reed’s person that fit a deadbolt lock in Johnson’s apartment. As well, DNA evidence collected from an empty cigarillo package confirmed Reed’s connection to the murder.
As a result, Reed has been indicted with first degree murder of Stephon D. Johnson alongside the killing of six other victims. He has also been charged with one count of armed criminal action and two counts of fraud.
