Elizabeth Holmes Allegedly Tried to Flee to Mexico After Being Convicted of Fraud

Elizabeth Holmes, founder and CEO of Theranos, a healthcare technology company, was found guilty in January of 2022 of four counts of wire fraud, and she was tried on seven more charges for faking blood test results, according to abc news.

Holmes was sentenced to 11 years in prison and has appealed her conviction. 

Several news outlets, including People and abc news claim that Holmes bought a one way ticket to Mexico shortly after receiving her conviction, People claims however that Holmes’ lawyers, according to an alleged email, stated that she “booked the flight before her conviction and planned to attend a friend’s wedding in Mexico if she wasn’t found guilty.”
