Domestic Violence Charges Dropped Against ‘Rick and Morty’ Co-Creator
Variety reports that Justin Roiland, co-creator of “Rick and Morty” has been cleared of domestic violence charges. Roiland made a court appearance back in January for a pre-trial hearing after he was charged with one felony count of domestic battery with corporal injury and one felony count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud and/or deceit against an ex-girlfriend.
Charges against Roiland were dropped, a spokeswoman for Orange County District Attorney says, “due to a lack of sufficient evidence beyond a reasonable doubt,” BBC claims.
Roiland took to social media upon the charges being dropped, stating that he’s “so disappointed that so many people were so quick to judge without knowing the facts, based solely on the word of an embittered ex trying to bypass due process and have me ‘cancelled.’ That it may have succeeded, even partially, is shameful.”
