“Rick and Morty” Co-Creator Charged with Domestic Violence Felony

Justin Roiland, co-creator of the popular animated Adult Swim “Rick and Morty,” has been charged with felony domestic violence and appeared in court on Thursday, January 12, 2023 for a pre-trial hearing, according to People.

Variety claims that Roiland was charged with one felony count of domestic battery with corporal injury and another felony count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud and/or deceit, to which he pled not guilty.

The felony complaint occurred on what is believed to be around January 19, 2020, against an unnamed girlfriend that Roiland was dating at the time, and he is set for another pre-trial hearing on April 27, according to Variety.

NBC News claims that Roiland was released on a $50,000 bond back in August 2020 and was arraigned in October of 2020.
