Clearwater Florida Man Plotted and Bludgeoned His Mother to Death
A Clearwater Florida man was arrested last Saturday after being found and admitting to brutally murdering his mother in his apartment. The man admitted to plotting his mother’s death for over a year before enacting it this past weekend.
According to Fox 13, Logan Lopez (24) lured his mother to his Palms at Countryside apartment Saturday evening with the intent to kill her. The police were called around five pm after hearing women’s screams and loud banging before the screams stopped.
Mary Beth Lopez (53) was beaten with a hammer and stabbed multiple times, found dead on the scene by police. According to WFLA, Logan admitted to everything, from plotting and luring his mother to his home to his actions to kill her, when police arrived and said his reasoning for such was that his mother “enslaved him.”
Logan has no criminal record, but he was institutionalized involuntarily due to enforcing the “Baker Act”. He will be charged with first-degree murder.
