Accused Miami Serial Killer Charged with Two Counts of First-Degree Murder

Willy Suarez Maceo, 25, was charged on Friday with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder, and one attempted premeditated murder after killing two men and shooting another in the face. Authorities believe that Maceo purposefully targeted homeless men.

Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle announced the charges during a press conference. “These types of homicides are best known as serial killings. It’s a series of chances like detached killings that can defy a community’s perception of danger and safety,” she said.

Maceo committed his first murder on October 16. Surveillance footage showed Maceo walking towards 59-year-old Manuel Perez and then running back into his Dodge Charger and driving off. Perez was found stabbed to death.

On December 21, Maceo shot a man named Jorge Jardines in the face. Jardines eventually survived the shooting but was in critical condition. Just hours after that shooting, Maceo was seen on surveillance video shooting and killing 56-year-old Jerome Antonio Price while he was sleeping on the sidewalk in the Wynwood area of Miami.

The Washington Post reports that Maceo flaunted his wealth on social media. He “posed with Porsches and preached the benefits of cryptocurrency” and showed disdain for homeless people. Maceo’s attorneys have not commented on the charges.
