Florida Prosecutors Will Seek Death Penalty for Accused Murderer

Prosecutors in Florida plan to seek the death penalty against a man accused of killing a Daytona Beach couple back in March, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reports.

32-year-old Jean R. Macean was indicted by a grand jury last month on two counts of first-degree premeditated murder with a weapon for the homicides of Terry Aultman, 48, and Brenda Aultman, 55.

The Aultmans were returning home from Daytona Beach Bike Week on March 6 when Macean stabbed them repeatedly and slashed their throats. Macean was arrested days after the crime and confessed to the murders during his interrogation. Investigators have not identified a motive or a connection between Macean and the Aultmans and believe that it was a random attack.

Macean’s pre-trial hearing is set for May 4.
