12-Year-Old Girl Accused of Shooting Her Father, Then Herself, in a Murder Plot With a Friend
A 12-year-old Texas girl has been accused of shooting her 38-year-old father last Tuesday evening before turning the gun on herself. Both survived, and now investigators are alleging the girl and a friend reportedly plotted to kill both of their families and pets before running away to Georgia together.
According to a Facebook post by the Parker County Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call around 11:30 p.m. alerted deputies to a shooting in Weatherford, Texas, last Tuesday. When officers arrived to the scene, the girl was laying on the street with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Upon further investigation, a firearm was found under the girl.
The girl’s 38-year-old father was found inside the home with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Investigators believe the girl shot her father, fled the scene, then turned the gun on herself. Both the girl and her father were airlifted to local hospitals. Their conditions have not been released to the public.
Investigators discovered that the girl and a friend who lived over 200 miles away in Lufkin, Texas, plotted for weeks to kill their families and their pets. The other juvenile planned on killing her father, but decided to not go through with the plan. They reportedly planned on running away together to Georgia. Parker County officials have charged the juvenile from Lufkin with criminal conspiracy in the attempted murder.
The sheriff’s office will not be releasing the name of the juveniles since their office has a practice of not releasing the names of minors. The name of the 38-year-old man who was shot will also remain anonymous as to not identify the alleged shooter.
